The Allen-Bradley 1756-ENBT ControlLogix Ethernet /IP Bridge module is a copper cable communication module for transferring large amounts of data over an Ethernet connection. The module can handle 64 TCP and 128 CIP connections at a communication rate of 10/100 Mbps. The module supports high-speed processor interlocking, controlling distributed I/O, and routing devices to different NetLinx networks using Ethernet /IP networks as the backbone. These features allow users to control, configure, and collect data within an Ethernet /IP network. This, in turn, allows users to cut maintenance and support costs and then simplify their network architecture, as less network may be required to run their applications.

1756-ENBT Support Network. Setup and internal diagnostics of modules such as IP traffic, TCP, UDP, conflict histograms, connection management, etc. via a standard Web browser. Users can also get information about module revisions, IP, subnets, gateway and Ethernet addresses, module uptime, vendors, code information, diagnostics information, name servers, startup status, 1756-L1 processor mode information, and network storm information. The 1756-ENBT module has a current consumption of 700 mA at 5.1 volts DC. On the other hand, for 3 volts of DC, its current consumption is 24 mA. The 1756-ENBT has a power consumption of 3.7 watts and a heat dissipation of 12.6 BTU/ hour. When placed in a remote I/O case, it can also act as a remote I/O adapter. This allows users to collect and configure data, as well as remotely control ControlLogix modules, especially input, output, analog, or dedicated modules. Please note that 1756-ENBT does not have a rotary switch. The 1756-ENBT is also backward compatible.

1756-ENBtT Supports Ethernet I/P protocols. It is capable of connecting to 10/100 Mbps communication networks with auto-negotiation. It has an RJ45 communications port and a USB 1.1 configuration port.

This module is one of the early Ethernet modules for the ControlLogix automation platform. It has a maximum number of TCP connections of 64 and Common Industry Protocol (CIP) connections of 128. This allows simultaneous communication with different devices without the need for a multiplexer device. This device can process up to 5000 I/O packets per second and 900 HMI/MSG packets per second. The module occupies a slot in the chassis and can also be used for standalone applications. The device is only available in a linear topology because it is embedded with a single Ethernet communication port.
