The 8 Series IOM and IOTA are available in both coated and non-coated variants. The term "coating" represents the application of conformal coating materials to the hardware of electronic circuits to protect against moisture, dust, chemicals, and extreme temperatures. Coated IOM and IOTA are recommended when electronic devices must withstand harsh environments and require additional protection.
As a quick reference, all 8 Series Honeywell models beginning with 8C indicate a conformal coating "and models beginning with "8U" indicate non-conformal coated hardware
