The Emerson Network Power MVME5500 series is designed to meet original equipment manufacturers, including OEM imaging market segments in the aerospace, industrial automation, and medical sectors. Customers seeking a technology update while maintaining backward compatibility infrastructure with their existing VMEbus can upgrade to the MVME5500 series and take advantage of enhanced performance features.
The MVME5500 uses the MPC7457 processor that runs at 1 GHz, making it ideal for data-intensive applications. The MVME5500 provides more than just better processor performance it also provides balanced performance from the processor, memory and/or processor, dual independent local buses and I/O subsystems.
Powerful Marvell system controller with support for 133MHz host bus and 133MHz SDRAM memory bus) matches well with high-speed processors. To match system I/O with processor performance MVME5500 provides dual 64-bit 33/66 MHz PCI buses. Each PCI bus has a PMC site that supports cards running at 33 or 66MHz. The MVME5500 continues Emerson's migration path and Single Board Computer (SBC) platform for embedded controllers that began with the MVME5100 series This migration path enables Oems to support different I/O demand platforms with the same foundation, simplifying part number maintenance, technical expertise requirements and back-up.
The MVME5500 series offers customers the ability to migrate from MVME2300, MVME2400, MVME2600, MVME2700 and MVME5100 boards, allowing them to take advantage of features such as the MPC7455 processor, Gigabit Ethernet and dual independent 33/66 MHz PMC sites.
