PROFIBUS DP is a high-speed multipurpose bus protocol (up to 12Mbit/s) used to interconnect field devices such as remote /O, drives, low-voltage electrical equipment, and controllers. The PROFIBUS DP can be connected to the AC 800M via the CI854A communication interface. The Classic CI854A includes two PROFIBUS ports for line redundancy, and it also supports PROFIBUS master redundancy. CI854B is the new PROFIBUS-DP master station that can replace CI854A in a new installation.

By using two CI854A communication interface modules, master station redundancy is supported in PROFIBUS-DP communication. Station redundancy can be combined with CPU redundancy and CEXbus redundancy (BC810). this

Some modules are mounted on DIN rails and connect directly to the S800 I/O system and other /O systems, including all PROFIBUS DP/DP-V1 and FOUNDATION Fieldbus proficiency systems.

PROFIBUS DP must terminate at the two outermost nodes. This is usually done by using a connector with a built-in terminal. In order to ensure proper working termination, the connector must be inserted and powered.
