Rick Morse, vice president of control and security solutions, TRICONEX 3401 Invensys Operations Management, said that Invensys Operations Management's Foxboro Distributed Control System (DCSs) has a long history in automation and provides a platform that has been unique in the industry for decades. In order to keep the Foxboro I/A series up to date, Invensys today introduced the next major improvement to its DCS.

The I/A series is a core component of the company's infusion enterprise control system, and the TRICONEX 3401 includes key innovations such as Smart Assembly, which significantly improves system implementation and design methods, and Foxboro Control Software 3.0, which allows users to integrate their plant systems, databases, and software applications. These improvements address the major stages of system modernization and allow customers to upgrade at their own pace, Morse said. "Together, they link business processes to production processes, enabling real-time business optimization and creating a fully empowered workforce."

The TRICONEX 3401 can be assembled to save up to 20% on the cost of implementing a process control system, with sustained savings throughout its operating life. For conventional control systems, the field wiring must be sorted out in the marshalling cabinet before connecting to the main I/O module patch board of the DCS panel. The I/A series intelligent marshalling solution eliminates the need for a common fieldbus module that supports various analog and digital signal types.
