GE manufactured the DS3800NADC1D1D to be used as an analog input card as a component in its Mark IV system. The Mark IV is designed for gas and steam turbine control and is based on the theory of "intentional redundancy". It has an integrated chipset that partially replicates each other's responsibilities, allowing responsibility to be transferred from the faulty PCB to the work board to keep the entire system up and running.
DS3800NADC1D1D is marked aligned on its top edge. It has four individually labeled test points (TPS). One terminal (7 x 4) is located near the center of the board. The male connector is located on the left side of the board, allowing communication with other PCBS.
The DS3800NADC1D1D includes multiple resistors and integrated circuits. One of these circuits is the Datel A/D converter located in the upper right quadrant. Nearby are two trimmer potentiometers for external adjustment of the zero or offset and gain of the converter chip. They are as close together as possible to avoid noise picking. The DATEL chip has short-cycle operation, an internal high-Z input buffer, and 8 or 20 microsecond conversion times. It has a 12-bit resolution.
