Models 1023-21 of the SPM-D8440 series were developed and produced by the Woodward Company. These Woodward SPM-D21 modules are designed as microprocessor-based synchronizers and developed for integration into industrial generator systems that are equipped with automatic functions for frequency matching, phase matching and voltage matching. Unit 8440-1023 has a combination of synchronous functions of a three-phase alternator.

The 8440-1023 includes a generator circuit breaker (GCB) unit, power circuit breaker (MCB), load and power factor control module, and generator and power protection system. The 8440-1023 is designed with separate GCB and MCB synchro.

Phase matching and slip frequency synchronization can be performed simultaneously with voltage matching. The device is equipped with two inductive capabilities for generator systems, common buses and power circuit breakers. Parallel operation of mains includes active power RMS power calculation and detection, and active power control. There are also power factor functions, controls, and set values for selected parameters. The 8440-1023 is equipped with discrete outputs that allow the device to increase and decrease the output of speed, load, and voltage and power factor. The size of the machine is the standard setting of SPM-D21 series; 144 mm x 72 mm x 122 mm.
